Kip Cyprus & The Top of the Line 1950 Pontiac
According to Kip Cyprius: “The 1950 Pontiac Chieftain convertible deluxe was the top of the line model that you could have bought in 1950. It has the straight eight – 108 horsepower – the original motor in it. This car has not been altered from its original. It is, like it would have been displayed on the showroom floor. Back in the day these were about $2k new. 1950, was the last year they used the Indian. It lights up when you turn the head lights on. Power top car – lot of style. There is a “suspender” – gorgeous chrome lines – that drape down the hood. In 1954 they went to the two sides suspenders.
Kip Cypurs takes a look at the car from the inside: “It has so much style. Big speaker in the center, awesome steering wheel. This car has been upgraded a little bit; we actually put the leathers in it. The colors are right on factory.”
Cyprus continues: “great view from the back, you can see the “suspenders” go all the way up back up from the tail. When you look at this car – you can see how easy it would be converted into a custom.
Its go that small back window givning it that mystic tough guy appearence.”
Kip C. Cyprus concludes: “It has a whopping in-line 346 cubic 108 horsepower powerplant. The engine likely weighs more than the whole car! There’s an indicator light that you can see on the windshield; so when you are driving and approaching the stop lights and and can’t see the light above you there is a magnifier indicator so you can see what is above you from there. That’s a nice option that today you would expect!”
